Сщмч. Игнатий родился в Сирии в I в. и был учеником св. ап. и евангелиста Иоанна Богослова. Игнатий был тем ребенком, которого обнял Спаситель и сказал: “Если не обратитесь и не будете как дети, не войдете в Царство Небесное”. Богоносцем его назвали потому, что Игнатий непрестанно молился Господу и словно носил его имя в своем сердце. Игнатия избрали епископом Антиохии. В 107 г. имп. Траян был там проездом.
