На радость и печаль, по воле рока,
Два друга, две любви владеют мной:
Мужчина светлокудрый, светлоокий
И женщина, в чьих взорах мрак ночной.
Чтобы меня низвергнуть в ад кромешный,
Стремится демон ангела прельстить,
Увлечь его своей красою грешной
И в дьявола соблазном превратить.
Не знаю я, следя за их борьбою,
Кто победит, но доброго не жду.
Мои друзья - друзья между собою,
И я боюсь, что ангел мой в аду.
Но там ли он, - об этом знать я буду,
Когда извергнут будет он оттуда.

The demon strives to seduce the angel,
To captivate him with her sinful beauty
And the temptation to turn into the devil.
