Шум трения плевры — шум, обусловленный трением плевральных листков, поверхность которых изменена фибринозным выпотом (при сухом плеврите), склеротическими процессами, элементами опухоли (при мезотелиоме, карциноматозе плевры). В разных случаях характерный диапазон частот шума неодинаков (чаще в пределах 710—1400 Гц), и его восприятие существенно различается. В одних случаях он слышится как хруст или треск, в других как шуршание, как шум движения песка по твердому телу, нередко как нежный шелестящий звук (шелест шелка). Шум воспринимается как возникающий близко к уху.
