From reckless joys
And from the anxieties of the unquenchable.
So that among the nondescript walls,
Among a dull affluence
Could embody the soul of the lot,
With the pen bent over the notebook.
Then the rooms are dark
With long extinct candles,
Forgetting the former poor,
I generously illuminated the verses.
