Корнями этот толерантный культ восходит к индуизму и включает в себя почитание католических святых, африканских божеств и верования бразильских индейцев. В мажорной песенке “Take Me To Aruanda” американская певица бразильско германского происхождения, композитор, художник, одна из выдающихся исполнительниц боссановы Аструд Жилберто (р. 1940) просит забрать ее в Аруанду, где “алмазный песок, золотое солнце, серебряные звезды над холмами, много рыбы, куча времени, чтобы только и делать, что мечтать, где никто ни о чем не беспокоится, никто никуда не спешит, сплошная легкая жизнь, нет никаких печалей, и там ждет тебя рай”.
