На заре погибнет царь Израилев! Когда Израиль был юн, Я любил его и из Египта вызвал сына Моего.
Звали их, а они уходили прочь от лица их: приносили жертву Ваалам и кадили истуканам.
Я Сам приучал Ефрема ходить, носил его на руках Своих, а они не сознавали, что Я врачевал их.
Узами человеческими влек Я их, узами любви, и был для них как бы поднимающий ярмо с челюстей их, и ласково подкладывал пищу им.
Не возвратится он в Египет, но Ассур он будет царем его, потому что они не захотели обратиться ко Мне.
И падет меч на города его, и истребит затворы его, и пожрет их за умыслы их.
Народ Мой закоснел в отпадении от Меня, и хотя призывают его к горнему, он не возвышается единодушно.
Как поступлю с тобою, Ефрем? как предам тебя, Израиль? Поступлю ли с тобою, как с Адамою, сделаю ли тебе, что Севоиму? Повернулось во Мне сердце Мое, возгорелась вся жалость Моя!
Не сделаю по ярости гнева Моего, не истреблю Ефрема, ибо Я Бог, а не человек; среди тебя Святый; Я не войду в город.
Вслед Господа пойдут они; как лев, Он даст глас Свой, даст глас Свой, и встрепенутся к Нему сыны с запада,
встрепенутся из Египта, как птицы, и из земли Ассирийской, как голуби, и вселю их в домы их, говорит Господь.
Окружил Меня Ефрем ложью и дом Израилев лукавством; Иуда держался еще Бога и верен был со святыми.

I myself taught Ephraim to walk, carried him in my arms, but they did not realize that I was healing them.
By the bonds of men I drew them, by the bonds of love, and was for them, as it were, lifting the yoke from their jaws, and tenderly laying food for them.
He will not return to Egypt, but Assur he will be his king, because they did not want to turn to Me.
And the sword will fall on his cities, and destroy his shutters, and devour them for their designs.
My people have become stale in falling away from Me, and although they call them to the things above, they do not rise with one accord.
What will I do with you, Ephraim? how will I betray you, Israel? Will I deal with you as I did with Adam, will I do with you what I did with Sevoim? My heart has turned in Me, all My pity is kindled!
I will not do it according to the fury of my anger, I will not destroy Ephraim, for I am God, and not man; the Holy One is among you; I will not enter the city.
They will follow the Lord; like a lion, he will give his voice, he will give his voice, and the sons of the west will tremble at him,
out of Egypt, like birds, and out of the land of Assyria, like doves, they will stir, and I will bring them into their houses, says the Lord.
Ephraim has surrounded Me with lies and the house of Israel with guile; Judas still held out to God and was faithful with the saints.
