Конкретная жизнь христиан, конкретные их грехи всегда были лучшим аргументом противников христианской веры. Однако можно ли судить о каком либо идеале по его НЕвыполнению (ведь тогда идеала просто нет)? Разве люди невыполняющие тот или иной исповедуемый ими идеал еще имеют к нему какое нибудь отношение? Если христианин ненавидит, то не очевидно ли, что он уже предал религию любви (и что он - нехристианин)? Или мягче: не правильнее ли судить о природе того или иного идеала по нему самому, объективно? (в конце концов, любой идеал невыполним - мы можем лишь бесконечно приближаться к нему по асимптоте). Идеал должно судить по его высшим проявлениям, никак не по низшим (по удачам, а не неудачам). На тысячу ложных гипотез приходится одна верная - и мы не отвергаем науку, на тысячу бездарных книг - одна гениальная, но мы не прекращаем писать и читать. Христианский идеал высок, бесконечно высок, и судить его надо по святым, а точнее по Самому его Идеалу - Христу. Христианство - это Христос, а христиане - те кто хочет быть с Ним.

Or softer: isn’t it more correct to judge the nature of an ideal by itself, objectively? (in the end, any ideal is not feasible - we can only infinitely approach it by the asymptote). An ideal should be judged by its highest manifestations, not by its lower ones (by successes, not failures). For one thousand false hypotheses there is one true one - and we do not reject science, for one thousand mediocre books - one ingenious, but we do not stop writing and reading. The Christian ideal is high, infinitely high, and it must be judged by the saints, or rather, by His very Ideal - Christ. Christianity is Christ, and Christians are those who want to be with Him.
