«Весна и осень», — это две крошечные миниатюры. Первая — нежный флейтовый напев в темпе allegretto, сопровождаемый еле слышными аккордами струнных. Затем флейту сменяет скрипка с тем же напевом. После паузы начинается вторая миниатюра (это осень, пора отцветания и усталости), с тем же мотивом, но приглушенным, у солирующей скрипки с сурдиной, и аккомпанируют ей своими мягкими аккордами теперь кларнеты и валторны — пианиссимо, с сурдинами. Скрипке подпевает английский рожок, гобой вставляет свою реплику, и все угасает на тончайшем пианиссимо.
Spring and Autumn are two tiny miniatures. The first is a gentle flute tune at an allegretto tempo, accompanied by barely audible chords of strings. Then the flute is replaced by a violin with the same tune. After a pause, the second miniature begins (it is autumn, it is time for flowering and fatigue), with the same motif, but muffled, at the violin solo with a mute, and the clarinets and horn are now playing with soft chords - pianissimo, with mute. The violin sings along with the English horn, the oboe inserts its own cue, and everything fades away on the finest pianissimo.
