При проведении предпринятого силовиками штурма погибли 334 человека, в том числе - 317 заложников, из них 186 детей, двое сотрудников МЧС, 10 сотрудников ФСБ и один житель Беслана. 728 заложников и 55 сотрудников ФСБ, органов внутренних дел и военнослужащих были ранены.
