В заснеженном шахматном поле
Меж воронов чёрных лежать,
Презрев королевскую волю,
Осталась упрямая рать.
Ни криков уже и ни мата
Не вызовет новая боль,
Застыл в состоянии пата
Лицом почерневший король.
Последние два пехотинца
Его заслоняют спиной,
Врагов обессиленных лица
У самой межи ножевой.
Навряд ли какому герольду
Уже различить их цвета –
Мечей иступлённые хорды
В кровавом овале щита.
И дело уже не в короне,
Ни жизнь не важна и ни смерть,
Уже никакие законы
Не смеют сказать им: «Не сметь!»
Другие понятья о чести
Сейчас им стучатся в виски…
...И вздрогнет в испуге гроссмейстер,
Когда они выйдут с доски.

In the snow-covered chess field
Between the black ravens lie,
Disdaining the royal will,
The stubborn army remained.
No cries already and no mat
It will not cause a new pain,
Frozen in a stalemate
Face blackened king.
The last two infantrymen
He is shielded by his back,
Enemies of Enraged Persons
At the very edge of the knife.
It is unlikely that any herald
Already distinguish their colors -
Swords inactive chords
In the bloody oval of the shield.
And it's not in the crown,
Neither life is important nor death,
Already no laws
They dare not tell them: "Do not you dare!"
Others understand about honor
Now they are knocking at the whiskey ...
... And the grandmaster will wince in fright,
When they come out of the board.
