13 января 1986г. боевая потеря вертолета Ми-24 50-го осап (Кабул). Взлет в а/п Кабул. Командир вертолета к-н С. Синько (позывной 744). Экипаж этого вертолета осуществлял прикрытие 8 вертолетов Ми-8МТ осуществлявших высадку десанта на плато Искаполь под Газни, после начала обстрела с земли отвлек огонь противника на себя. Машина получила значительные повреждения от пуль ДШК и загорелась. Оператор ст. л-т А.Устыченко покинул потерявший управление борт, но из-за малой высоты парашют раскрыть не успел, командир и борттехник ст. л-т Н.Старков погибли при столкновении вертолета со скалой.
