Священномученик Сергий Мечёв родился в Москве в тысяча восемьсот девяносто втором году, в семье известного священника отца Алексия Мечёва, настоятеля храма Святителя Николая в Клённиках на Маросейке. Сергей закончил историко-филологический факультет МГУ. В годы Первой мировой войны он работал на Западном фронте братом милосердия в санитарном поезде. Там же он встретил свою будущую супругу. В девятнадцатом году Сергей принял священнический сан. Он служил в том же приходе что и отец. По воспоминаниям современников паства стала настоящей семьей, связанной узами любви и единым духовным руководством. В двадцать третьем году отец Алексий Мечёв скончался. Окормлять приход стал отец Сергий. В двадцать девятом году его арестовали и сослали в Вологодскую область. Через три года закрыли храм на Маросейке. Отца Сергия вскоре приговорили к еще пяти годам лагерей. В тридцать седьмом году он освободился, стал жить в Твери и работать в больнице. К священнику часто приезжали его московские прихожане, он совершал литургию на дому. В сорок первом году отца Сергия вновь забрали. Его приговорили к расстрелу. К лику святых священномученик Сергий причислен в двухтысячном году.
The holy martyr Sergius Mechev was born in Moscow in the year 1898, in the family of the famous priest Father Alexei Mechev, rector of the Church of St. Nicholas in Klenniki on Maroseyka. Sergey graduated from the historical and philological faculty of Moscow State University. During the First World War, he worked on the Western Front as a brother of mercy in a medical train. There he met his future wife. In the nineteenth year, Sergei took priesthood. He served in the same ward as his father. According to the memoirs of contemporaries, the flock became a real family, bound by bonds of love and a single spiritual leadership. In the twenty-third year, father Alexy Mechev died. Father Sergius began to feed the parish. In the twenty-ninth year he was arrested and exiled to the Vologda Oblast. Three years later, the temple was closed on Maroseyka. Father Sergius was soon sentenced to another five years in the camps. In the thirty-seventh year he was released, began to live in Tver and work in a hospital. His parishioners often came to the priest; he performed the liturgy at home. In the forty-first year, Father Sergius was again taken away. He was sentenced to death. The holy martyr Sergius was counted among the saints in the two thousandth year.
