Новодворская икона Божией Матери написана святым святителем Петром, митрополитом Московским, в бытность его игуменом обители на реке Рати, на урочище Малый Дворец. Во время гонения от униатов, которые разграбили Новодворский монастырь, икона эта была перенесена иеромонахом Иаковом в Елецкий Черниговский монастырь. Затем Черниговский Преосвященный Антоний(Стаховский) благословил этой иконой Симеона, строителя Сурожской обители (Черниговской епархии). 14 августа 1677 г., при перенесении иконы из старой церкви в новую во время крестного хода, она благодатно явила себя чудесными знамениями.
Novodvorskaya icon of the Mother of God was written by the holy hierarch Saint Peter, Metropolitan of Moscow, when he was abbot of the monastery on the Rati River, on the tract Malyi Dvorets. During the persecution of the Uniates who plundered the Novodvorskiy monastery, the icon was moved by hieromonk Jacob to the Yeletsky Monastery of Chernigov. Then Chernigov Reverend Anthony (Stakhovsky) blessed this icon with Simeon, the builder of the Surozh monastery (Chernigov diocese). On August 14, 1677, when the icon was transferred from the old church to the new church during the procession, it gracefully manifested itself as miraculous signs.
