"Это была идея Васильева – танцора из Большого театра, который предложил мне написать такой балет. Идей у него было собственно две: одна – нечто вроде танцкласса, стилизованного и поставленного в юмористическом тоне, и вторая – лабиринты, которые запутывают людей и из которых они выбираются благодаря тому, что встречают друг друга. В балете два персонажа – Он и Она, и смысл последней части – именно в их встрече.
Строение балета предполагает пять эпизодов. Вначале герои в полном уединении. Затем они теряют друг друга, ссорятся. Вторая часть – это всевозможные жесткие взаимоотношения между ними. Третья часть – всевозможная монотонность и автоматизм буден, которые оплетают человека, – механическая такая часть. Четвертая – ужас, бред, его галлюцинации, но всё это возникает не сюжетно, а представляет собой как бы разные стороны сознания. Последняя часть – это лабиринты, взаимные блуждания и выход из них, благодаря встрече обоих героев".
