«На шестидесятилетии гитарной фирмы "Фендер" изъявил желание выступить балалаечник с инструментом, которому больше века. И Алексей Архиповский, встреченный несколько недоуменными аплодисментами, выступил так, что на этом программу вечера следовали бы закрывать. Виртуоз мирового класса, владеющий балалайкой даже не в совершенстве, а за пределами понимания, он своим десятиминутным этюдом наглухо "закрыл" все показанные до него технические трюки, да и в музыке был изобретательнее на порядок. Вступление, медитативно-скупое и неожиданно философское, открыло залу балалайку с абсолютно неожиданной стороны. Сам по себе звук инструмента, многократно опошленный народными оркестрами на жаловании, оказался в умелых руках сравним с арабской лютней, арфой, скрипкой, бог знает, с чем еще - с каким-то непривычно качественным и недоступным простому человеку инструментом. Не с гитарой, потому что все держали в руках гитару и знают, что так она не звучит. И не с балалайкой, потому что все слышали "издалека долго течет река Волга" и знают, что балалайка так тоже не звучит. Описать его исполнение практически нереально: можно лишь сказать, что в десять минут уложены и "Полет шмеля", и весь положенный русский лубок, и блюзовые запилы, и фламенко, и отвлеченные взвешенные размышления в духе современного европейского джаза».

The introduction, meditative-stingy and unexpectedly philosophical, opened the hall to a balalaika with an absolutely unexpected side. By itself, the sound of the instrument, repeatedly vulgarized by the people's orchestras on salary, turned out to be in comparable hands comparable to the Arab lute, harp, violin, God knows, with what else - with some unusually high-quality and inaccessible to simple man instrument. Not with a guitar, because everyone was holding a guitar and know that it does not sound like that. And not with the balalaika, because everyone has heard "from far away the Volga River flows" and they know that the balalaika does not sound like that either. It's almost impossible to describe his performance: you can only say that in ten minutes the "Flight of the Bumblebee", and all the Russian lubok, blues fillets, flamenco, and abstract thoughtful thoughts in the spirit of modern European jazz are laid. "
