Однажды в старому индейцу пришёл его внук и спросил:
— Дед, а отчего зависит какой человек, добрый или злой, хороший или плохой?
— Понимаешь, внучек, в каждом человеке есть два волка: хороший и плохой, добрый и злой. И они всё время борются. Если побеждает добрый волк, значит добрый человек, побеждает злой волк – значит злой человек.
Маленький индеец, тронутый словами деда, на несколько мгновений задумался, а потом спросил:
— А от чего зависит, какой волк победит?
Старый индеец едва заметно улыбнулся и ответил:
— Всегда побеждает тот волк, которого ты кормишь.
