(август 1653 — 3 марта 1706) — знаменитый немецкий композитор и органист эпохи барокко, творчество которого является одной из вершин южнонемецкой органной музыки. Он сочинил огромное количество светских и церковных произведений, а его вклад в развитие форм фуги и хоральной прелюдии делает его одним из крупнейших композиторов эпохи среднего барокко.
Сегодня широкой публике Пахельбель известен прежде всего благодаря Канону ре мажор; это был единственный написанный им канон, и по одному этому произведению сложно представить себе его стиль.
