О роде и происхождении прп. Харитона не дошло никаких сведений. Известно только то, что он был ученик и сподвижник прп. Евфимия Сянжемского (память 20 января/2 февраля)1) и во всем подражал ему.
Вместе со своим учителем преподобный подвизался в молитве, посте и трудах: сам копал землю, садил овощи, рубил дрова, носил воду.
После кончины прп. Евфимия, последовавшей около 1465 или 1470 гг., по воле его управление монастырем перешло к прп. Харитону. Около 40 лет продолжал он труды своего наставника и блаженно скончался 11 апреля 1509 г.
Празднование прп. Харитону местное. Его святые мощи почивали под спудом в приходской церкви Вознесения Господня, на месте бывшего монастыря.
