В последние годы мы стали свидетелями целого ряда попыток независимой репликации известных работ в психологии, медицинских и биологических исследований. Итоги неутешительны. Большинство результатов, на которых часто основываются последующие исследования, попросту не воспроизводятся. И хотя этот факт и не ставит под сомнение научный метод как таковой, но ставит под сомнение эффективность функционирования науки как общественного института. Ведь если утерян такой ключевой элемент системы, как «воспроизводимость», то, может быть, с ней что-то не так? В лекции идёт речь о самом критерии «воспроизводимости», о том, есть ли в действительности «кризис» в современной науке, каковы его причины и что мы можем сделать, чтобы его преодолеть.
In recent years, we have witnessed a number of attempts at independent replication of well-known works in psychology, medical and biological research. The results are disappointing. Most of the results on which subsequent research is often based are simply not replicated. And although this fact does not call into question the scientific method as such, it does call into question the effectiveness of the functioning of science as a social institution. After all, if such a key element of the system as “reproducibility” is lost, then maybe there is something wrong with it? The lecture deals with the very criterion of "reproducibility", about whether there really is a "crisis" in modern science, what are its causes and what we can do to overcome it.
