Surusoitto (Траурная Музыка) Op. 111b (1931) - последняя инструментальная пьеса, написанная Сибелиусом. Эта пьеса содержит элементы 8 симфонии, которую Сибелиус сжег в печке своего дома Айнола. Когда композитор Йонас Кокконен спросил Айно Сибелиус о происхождении этой работы, она подтвердила ее связь с симфонией. Траурная Музыка была написана всего за два дня, для похорон друга Сибелиуса, живописца Аксели Галлен-Каллела, этим и объясняется, почему Сибелиус заимствовал стиль и материал из сожженной 8 симфонии. Surusoitto (Funeral Music) Op. 111b (1931) is the last instrumental play written by Sibelius. This play contains elements of the 8th symphony, which Sibelius burned in the stove of his house Ainola. When composer Jonas Kokkonen asked Aino Sibelius about the origin of this work, she confirmed her connection with the symphony. Mourning Music was written in just two days, for the funeral of the friend of Sibelius, the painter Axeli Gallen-Kallel, this explains why Sibelius borrowed style and material from the burnt 8 symphony. So in our hands was the only document regarding that amazing work. The dissonances follow one after another, and the archaic world seems more fierce than even in the sound world of the 4th symphony. The premiere of Funeral Music took place at the funeral of Axel Gallen-Callella in the church of St. John in Helsinki on March 19th, 1931.
