Они похожи на трамваи, вполне довольные тем, что бегут по своим рельсам, и презирающие веселый маленький автомобиль, который шныряет туда-сюда среди уличного движения и резво мчится по деревенским дорогам. Куда интереснее, на мой взгляд, люди -- надо сказать, весьма редкие, -- которые берут жизнь в руки и как бы лепят ее по своему вкусу.

They look like trams, quite pleased to be running along their own rails, and despising a cheerful little car that darts back and forth among the traffic and briskly rushes along country roads.
