в которой жила девушка такой красоты,
что он тотчас позабыл об охоте да о своём брате-лентяе Оё.
лишь поздней ночью вернулся домой без провизии.
то же повторилось и на следующий день.
тогда оголодавший Оё сам направился на поиски пищи,
бродя по тундре он увидел раскол в земле и решил проверить
не затаилась ли там лёгкая жизнь.
но его окутала тьма. лентяй долго брёл через потёмки,
пока не начало светлеть. в свете он увидел ярангу,
где сидела старуха. он тотчас же потребовал у неё пищи,
и старуха велела лечь спать, пока она будет готовить.
Оё улёгся, но решил понаблюдать за женщиной. та достала котёл и нож,
отрезала от собственного бока кусок мяса
и бросила варить. как только варево закипело - она принялась будить гостя,
но тот отказался есть и только спросил дорогу домой.
та велела дойти до реки, дождаться плывущую в ней горбушу и отрезать чуть-чуть
от её горба. Оё и правда увидел горбушу, но от жадности глубоко вонзил в неё нож.
рыба так сильно ударила нападающего хвостом, что тот рухнул на льдину и пристыл
ко льду.
