О Вёлунде
Жил конунг в Свитьоде, звали его Нидуд. Двое сыновей было у него и дочь по имени Бёдвильд.
Жили три брата - сыновья конунга финнов,- одного звали Слагфид, другого Эгиль, третьего Вёлунд. Они ходили на лыжах и охотились. Пришли они в Ульвдалир и построили себе дом. Есть там озеро, зовется оно Ульвсъяр. Рано утром увидели они на берегу озера трех женщин, которые пряли лен, а около них лежали их лебяжьи одежды,- это были валькирии. Две из них были дочери конунга Хлёдвера: Хладгуд Лебяжьебелая и Хервёр Чудесная, а третья была Эльрун, дочь Кьяра из Валланда. Братья увели их с собой, Эгиль взял в жены Эльрун, Слягфид - Лебяжьебелую, а Вёлунд - Чудесную. Так они прожили семь зим. Потом валькирии умчались в битвы и не возвратились. Тогда Эгиль отправился искать Эльрун, Слагфид пошел на поиски Лебяжьебелой. А Вёлунд остался в Ульвдалире. Он был искуснейшим человеком среди всех людей, известных нам из древних сказаний. Конунг Нидуд велел схватить его, как здесь об этом рассказано.
