Во все времена Русская земля была щедра и богата: на ее необъятных просторах зрели тучные нивы, в лесах водилось зверье, не счесть было сокровищ в ее недрах. А уж о людях и говорить нечего – об искусных мастерах и мастерицах, о храбрых и сильных воинах. Потому-то многим и хотелось прийти на Русь, чтобы владеть всеми этими сокровищами. Множество захватчиков не давало покоя русским городам и весям: то хазары, то половцы, то немецкие рыцари, то татарские орды... Отбивались от них русичи, но приходилось и дань платить, и в чужеземной неволе томиться. И кто знает, удалось бы выдержать натиск всех тех, кто хотел покорить нашу Родину, если бы не князья, благородные заступники земли Русской. Под их знаменами поднимался народ за свою землю биться, не жалея сил, рубил супостатов. Много славных имен хранит история: Ярослав Мудрый, Владимир Мономах, Александр Невский, Дмитрий Донской... О трудном их подвиге служения отчизне и пойдет речь в этой книге.

Under their banners the people rose for their land to fight, sparing no effort, chopping off the adversaries. A lot of glorious names are kept by history: Yaroslav the Wise, Vladimir Monomakh, Alexander Nevsky, Dmitry Donskoy ... About their difficult feat of service to the fatherland and will be discussed in this book.
