Летел на битву капитан Гастелло,
Как гордый сокол, выше облаков.
На крыльях сокола гроза летела,
Чтоб град стальной обрушить на врагов.
Но враг поджёг бензиновые баки.
Раздался взрыв, и вспыхнул самолет…
Казалось, что летит под небом факел,
Как метеор, в единственный полет!
Дрожит мотор в последнем содроганьи,
Кругом бушует и гремит гроза.
Нет времени для мысли, для дыханья,
Нет силы приоткрыть в огне глаза!
Но капитан всей волею последней
Ведёт машину прямо на врага!
Горят цистерны, гибнут вражьи танки,
Гремит металл, врагов сбивая с ног…
Мёртв капитан, и на его останки
Ложится пламя кругом, как венок.
Так умер в битве капитан Гастелло…
Запомним навсегда его, друзья!
Народ, способный на такую смелость,
Ни запугать, ни победить нельзя!
