Наказов матери не слыша
над пёстрым гулом городским
стоял птенец у края крыши
и было небо перед ним.
Оно звало весенней синью
ветрами гулкими трубя,
но где найти такую силу,
чтобы в него поднять себя?
Казалось, этой силы нету,
но видел он как наяву:
его сородичи по небу
с домов ныряли в синеву,
Была дорога их прямая
уже у солнца самого,
а он стоял, не понимая,
что крылья есть и у него.
И вдруг, сомнения осилив,
до неожиданности смел,
еще не зная силы крыльев
он в них поверил — и взлетел.

Mother's orders are not heard
over the motley roar of the city
nestling stood at the edge of the roof
and there was heaven before him.
It called spring blue
winds echoing,
but where to find such a force
to lift yourself up in it?
It seemed that there was no such force
but he saw as a reality:
his relatives in the sky
from houses dived in the blue,
There was a straight road
already by the sun itself,
and he stood not understanding
that he has wings too.
And suddenly, doubts having mastered,
before surprise dare
still not knowing the strength of the wings
he believed in them - and took off.
