Это именно нацистский вариант (марш штурмовиков 1920-х гг.), но он возник как переделка "Bruder, zur Sonne, zur Freiheit" ("Братья, к солнцу, к свободе!") - коммунистической песни, созданной в 1917 г. Германом Шерхеном. Та в свою очередь опиралась на "Смело товарищи, в ногу" Леонида Радина (1898).
