Пьеса изображает, польскую телегу на огромных колёсах, запряжённую волами. Тяжёлый шаг передаётся монотонным ритмом и грубыми подчёркнутыми ударами нижнего регистра. На фоне движения повозки звучит невесёлый крестьянский напев, напоминающий польские, украинские или русские народные мелодии в миноре. В целом пьеса создаёт мрачную картину: и волы, и возница, покорные судьбе, обречены заниматься своей работой до конца своих дней, безрадостная сторона жизни простого мужика показана здесь со всей ясностью.
The play depicts a Polish cart on huge wheels harnessed by oxen. A heavy step is conveyed by a monotonous rhythm and rude underlined strokes of the lower register. Against the background of the movement of the wagon, a gloomy peasant tune sounds, reminiscent of Polish, Ukrainian or Russian folk melodies in minor. In general, the play creates a gloomy picture: both the oxen and the charioteer, obedient to fate, are doomed to do their work until the end of their days, the joyless side of the life of a simple peasant is shown here with all clarity.
