«Ом Намах Шивайа» — одна из главных ведических и тантрических мантр. Её буквальный перевод – «поклонение Благому (Шиве)» и называется она панчакшара (пятислоговой) — мантрой. В её трансцендентных звуках содержится интуитивное знание Каула-дхармы. «Намах Шивайа» записана в самой сердцевине Вед — в знаменитом гимне «Рудрам» (Шатарудрия) Яджурведы и разъяснена в Агамах. Пять первоэлементов воплощены в этой Великой мантре. «На» — это земля, «Ма» — вода, «Ши» — огонь, «Ва» — воздух, а «Йа» — эфир.
