Название тибетской йогической практики Чод (gcod) переводится как "отсечение". Имеется ввиду безжалостное отсечение всех привязанностей, удерживающих человека в сансаре. Мастером, который ввел эту практику в "стране снежных гор" был индийский махасиддха Падампа Сангье, а наиболее известным ее представителем - тибетская йогини Мачиг Лабдрон. Обычно мантры Чод исполнялись сопровождении барабанчика дамару и канглинга - трубы из берцовой кости человека. Практика выполнялась в диких, безлюдных местах, горных ущельях и пещерах, в местах погребения и сожжения трупов.
