При невыясненных до сих пор обстоятельствах 19 января 1971 года в Вологде, в своей однокомнатной квартире, трагически и нелепо погиб русский поэт Николай Михайлович Рубцов. Принято считать, что в ходе семейного конфликта его задушила женщина, на которой он собирался жениться, – Людмила Дерябина. Во всяком случае, она сама заявила об этом в милиции. Тем не менее, спустя двадцать пять лет, отбыв тюремное наказание, Людмила официально отказалась от своего признания, и некоторые судмедэксперты, исследовав материалы давнего дела, подтвердили ее показания: механической асфиксии от сдавления шеи руками не было. Как будто бы предчувствуя свою кончину, незадолго до гибели Рубцов писал: "Я умру в крещенские морозы, я умру, когда трещат березы…" Так оно и получилось. Ему было 35 лет.
