Радость моя! Тело есть раб души, а душа - царица, а потому часто милосердием Божиим, бывает, что тело изнуряется болезнями; от сего ослабевают страсти, и человек приходит в себя; да и самая болезнь, телесная, рождается иногда от страстей.
Что же паче всего полезно и нужно? Соединение с Богом и общение с Ним посредством любви.
Теряя любовь сию, мы отпадаем от Него, а отпадая, подвергаемся различным и многообразным недугам.
Кто переносит болезнь с терпением и благодарением, тому вменяется она вместо подвига.

What is most useful and necessary? Union with God and communication with Him through love.

Who suffers the disease with patience and thanksgiving, he is charged with it instead of a feat.
