Посуду били щедро так, что, если б это к счастью,
я был бы счастлив тыщу лет. По крайней мере - сто.
Но я всё думал и гадал: вот если бы да кабы!..
И про себя подсчитывал, что вдруг да каждый друг
принёс бы мне по сотенке, по сотенке хотя бы!..
И всё не мог я сосчитать - захватывало дух.
Перед уходом каждый друг почёл первейшим долгом
мне высказать свою любовь и множество похвал.
И каждый руку мне сжимал усердно и подолгу,
мне даже стало больно, но я виду не подал.
Я улыбался и в уме хвалил свою проделку.
В конце концов и сто друзей довольны были мной -
и попросили, уходя, взаймы на опохмелку,
и я им выдал по рублю, и сто рублей долой.
