В свой вечерний час над степью мирной,
Когда Солнца луч последний просиял,
И среди небес, среди стезей эфирной,
Над Землей вечерний ангел пролетал,
Он увидел сумрак предзакатный,
Где уже седел вдали восток…
Вдруг услышал он голос он невнятный
Во поле ребенка голосок.
Он пошел, колосья собирая
Средь ковров цветов, и пел в тиши,
Были в песне той все звуки рая -
От невинной, неземной души.
“Ты, Дитя,- сказал посланник Бога,
В сердце грусть и радость затая,-
И куда ведет твоя дорога,
И в каких словах сложилась песнь твоя?”
У ребенка взор был чист и светел,
Но и он в смущении стоял.
“Я не знаю…” – робко он ответил.
И смиреньем его облик просиял
“Ты благослови меньшого брата,-
Так сказал Господь,- благослови
И младенца в тихий час заката
На путь счастья, правды и любви!”
